littlebear
Bear Bear Morris was 11 1/2 years old when he passed away, only one week after being diagnosed with cancer of the spleen. "Little Bear," as he is affectionately remembered, was his family's best friend and constant companion. In his name, Judy and Henry Morris have donated $5,000--one of the largest individual gifts received by the SPCA in recent history--to establish the Peninsula SPCA Little Bear Fund.

This new fund will provide the resources needed to help orphaned animals with extraordinary problems that require medical attention. The Morris' goal, and that of the Little Bear Fund, is to help these deserving animals get the veterinary care they need in order to heal and then find safe and loving homes where they may become someone's best friend.

The Peninsula SPCA clinic, which will celebrate its one year anniversary next month, will now have the funds needed to expand its lifesaving work. One lucky fellow who will benefit from Little Bear's Fund is Mai Tai, picture to the right. He is a three year old schnauzer who was found on the side of the road after being hit by a car. Sadly, no one claimed Mai Tai, so this adorable orphan was placed in the SPCA's care. His sweet demeanor and loving licks would win anyone's heart. His dislocated hip causes him to hop from back foot to front feet, teeter tottering around on only three legs. Thanks to the Morris' generosity, he is scheduled for surgery and following a recuperation period of about six weeks will be available for adoption.

LIttle Bear was Judy and Henry Morris' true best friend.

Little Bear remains an amazing little dog, who fought cancer and left his family to tell his tale--may his name inspire others to donate and help many orphaned animals in need.

"He traveled all over the world with us, and when he couldn't go, he would greet us with a happy smile and a wagging tail when we returned home. He made our lives better and it was an honor to be his companion," say Henry and Judy Morris.
peaches
Peaches is only 2 years old and a sweet pit-mix that was brought in with a broken leg. Her specific leg amputation was the first at this shelter and under the help of Director of Shelter Medicine Emily Beichel, the surgery was a success. Peaches was recently adopted into a family that loves her unconditionally. This would not be possible without the financial support of people in the area. Little Bear’s Fund could possibly become just the tool needed to save many lives.
